 October 8 - Here I am!

I made it. Here is the day / night / day:

-One "Ooops' at YVR Secuity.  I suprised the metal detector with my titanium knee and then made the guard grumpy as he found the pen and belt I forgot to remove.  He couldn't figure out why he was stil finding metal until I pointed out that the buttons on my shirt were metal snaps.  Memo to self - don't wear that shirt thru Security.

-The flight was long. I had extra legroom but the seat wasn't particularly comfortable.

-It was a breeze to go through Heathrow customs and get the Tube to Russell Square.

Cartwright Gardens:

Actual photos as I arrived.  Cloudy but no rain. Each door represents a block of about 10-12 suites.  My block is halfay along.

The flower baskets still look pretty good.  (Will check later to see if they are real)

Looking the other way:  The buidling beyond seems to be a similar type, but there are 4 boutique hotels in it, each with about 10 - 12 rooms.  Some have 24 hour desks.  They are significantly costlier than my flat.

-I met my buddy Carmela who arranged the accommodation.  4 page contract to sign.  I am definitely a tenant and not a guest.

 So here it is:

My flat 5 - 40-41 Cartwright Place (that might even be a mailing address).

View toward the window: About 10 feet wide, so I mcan't touch both walls.

The kitchen end.  The hallway  door has the mirror on it.  Fully equipped with stove, oven, fridge & microwave.  You can see the foot fo the bed, which gives an idea of the length of the room.

And the bathroom!  Almost not even enough room to change your mind 😏

So here's where I am living for the next month.  It will do nicely.

Last night I bought some breakfast goodies and had a nice meal before an excellent Lamb Shishkebob at the Fig & Walnut.

Today's tasks are more shopping and getting a Tube pass.

  1. Hi Greg,
We’re happy to hear you’ve arrived safely and are settled into your wee studio. Fig and Walnut sounds like a fun pub. We’re heading up to Parksville tomorrow so are hoping for good weather. Keep up the adventures 🤗
